Court of Common Pleas
The Court of Common Pleas, the only trial court created by the Ohio Constitution, is established by Article IV, Section 1, of the Ohio Constitution, and its duties are outlined in Article IV, Section 4.
The General Division has original jurisdiction in all criminal felony cases and in all civil cases in which the amount in controversy is more than $15,000. The General Division also has appellate jurisdiction over the decisions of some local and state administrative agencies.
The Court of Common Pleas also hears domestic relations cases. The Domestic Relations Division of the court has jurisdiction over all proceedings involving divorce or dissolution of marriages, annulment, legal separation, spousal support and allocation of parental rights and responsibilities for the care of children.

WETZEL ATTENDS EMERGENCY MEETING OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICIALS WITH OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL ON DRUG EPIDEMIC JANUARY 21, 2016
On January 21, Rick Wetzel attended an emergency meeting of law enforcement and public safety officials with Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine to learn about some new ways to fight the drug epidemic, and resulting increased crime in our communities across Ohio. Some of the topics presented included:
Local partnerships between law enforcement, mental health providers, and hospitals.
Trends to treating every drug overdose scene as a crime scene in order to prosecute drug dealers.
WETZEL ATTENDS PHEASANTS FOREVER 2016 BANQUET
Rick Wetzel attended the Pheasants Forever 2016 Banquet and Auction at the Floral Valley Community Center in Apple Valley. Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs.
